mezzo-soprano

Kirsten Nordland is a Cincinnati-based interdisciplinary artist who challenges traditional boundaries in classical music. Holding master's and undergraduate degrees in classical voice, Nordland is also trained in clown and improv comedy, which informs her approach as a classical vocalist.

In January 2024, she and composer Amalia Crevani presented the world premiere of “The Dark Place,” a piece set to Ursula K. Le Guin's poetry, at Minneapolis SongSLAM. Her 2023 master's recital at BGSU weaving together classical repertoire with her illustrations in an online zine.

Nordland’s diverse stage experience include favorite opera roles as Nerone in L'incoronazione di Poppea, Stewardess in Flight, & Ursula in Much Ado About Nothing. Most recently, Nordland performed in recital for the Art Song Preservation Society of New York, hosted by the Manhattan School of Music, and has joined ProArteOHIO Ensemble. Nordland is a current student of Margaret Lattimore.
